Growing up as a kid and watching basketball was always great. I always wanted to be as close as possible to the game. I wanted to hear the players calling out screens. I wanted to hear players yelling at the refs because they missed a call. I wanted to be on the floor next to the game.
Last night I went to the Los Angeles Sparks vs. the Atlanta Dream WNBA game in LA. I had no intention of sitting courtside but when I went to the ticket counter I asked if I could sit as close to the court as possible.
The ticket agent says to me, “I can get you on the floor if you want?”
I said, “The floor? How much?”
The price was so great to me that it was worth it. How many times do you get to sit on the floor at Staples Center? I sat on the floor once before back in the summer of 2016. I was in New York and the NY Liberty was in town playing at Madison Square Garden. I sat courtside and watched the WNBA like a dream come true. I want to one day do the same at an NBA game but I am working towards that. WNBA action is great to watch. The ladies ball better than most dudes on most nights.
But, last night was even more special because my God-daughter Aari McDonald was playing. I have seen her play in Atlanta and in New York. So when I get a chance to sit on the floor and watch someone I love play hoop… you know what I am gonna do.
My life is exactly how I imagined it would be.
My life is dope and I do dope shit!
